Our fridge water line started leaking and we didn’t know it was leaking until it went through the floor and water started pouring out of the garage ceiling. We called my daughter who then called Michael. He was at our house in less than an hour and walked us through everything and different options because It damaged our floor and cabinets. If we have any more problems he is who we will call again. Thank you for your help.

This was pretty much the best experience I ever had with anything related to construction. My tenants had a small leak on one of the pipes that was between four separate rooms of the house. I had a plumber along with water mitigation specialists who came by. Not a single person was able to detect the source of the leak. Not even the insurance adjuster. Michael Phillips was able to find it. Not only that, but he told me exactly what was happening and what I needed to do. He did a thorough and fantastic job. What could have been a major issue turned out to be one that was far more easy to handle. I can't thank Mr. Phillips enough for his help. If I could offer 6 stars for the work he did, I would.

Where Water Can Enter and How Damage Spreads

Water does not always stay near the original leak. It can travel through flooring, wall cavities, ceilings, cabinets, insulation, and adjoining rooms, which is why the source and the surrounding materials both need to be evaluated. We commonly respond to:

  • Broken Plumbing Lines – Pressurized pipes can release water quickly into walls, ceilings, floors, and nearby rooms.
  • Dishwasher & Laundry Leaks – Failed hoses, valves, and connections may allow water to spread underneath finished flooring or cabinetry.
  • Leaking Water Heaters – Tanks and fittings can fail slowly or suddenly, affecting utility spaces and adjoining areas.
  • Overflowing Toilets, Tubs & Sinks – Water can move beyond bathrooms and kitchens into hallways or rooms below.
  • Water Entering From the Roof – Roof problems can leave insulation, ceilings, drywall, and wall cavities wet.
  • Basement & Crawlspace Moisture – Leaks, drainage problems, groundwater, and weather can create ongoing moisture beneath a property.
  • Sump Pump & Drainage Problems – Lower areas can flood when water is not being discharged properly.
  • HVAC Drain Leaks – Condensate lines and equipment can create localized moisture that may go unnoticed.
  • Rain Entering the Structure – Damaged exterior components can allow storm water into walls, ceilings, or interior spaces.
  • Sewage & Wastewater – Contaminated losses require additional cleaning, material removal, and sanitation procedures.

For water released by a failed plumbing line, see our broken and burst pipe water damage service. If you currently have standing water, our emergency water removal service is available 24/7.

What We Do After a Water Loss

1. Determine What Happened

We inspect the source of the loss, identify affected rooms and materials, and evaluate how far moisture may have traveled.

2. Remove the Water

Pumps and extraction equipment are used to remove standing and recoverable water from floors, carpeting, and other affected areas.

3. Reduce Remaining Moisture

Air movers and dehumidifiers are positioned to dry affected building materials and lower moisture in the surrounding air.

4. Check Areas You Cannot See

Moisture meters and infrared imaging help evaluate flooring, walls, cabinets, and other areas where water may remain concealed.

5. Clean the Loss Area

Cleaning, sanitizing, and odor treatments are performed as appropriate for the source of the water and the materials that were affected.

6. Rebuild What Is Needed

Once drying is complete, materials that could not be restored can be repaired or replaced to complete the project.

The Restoration Plan Depends on What Got Wet

There is no single drying setup that works for every water loss. Water trapped beneath finished flooring is different from a ceiling leak, crawlspace problem, or flooded commercial area. The source of the water, materials affected, amount of moisture, and length of exposure all help determine what needs to happen next.

Phillips Restoration Services works with homeowners, landlords, property managers, and business owners throughout Douglasville. Our team can address damage affecting kitchens, bathrooms, living areas, rental properties, offices, retail spaces, crawlspaces, basements, and other parts of residential and commercial buildings.

If a business is dealing with a larger loss or operational disruption, our commercial water damage restoration service covers extraction, drying, moisture monitoring, cleanup, documentation, and repairs.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you can safely stop the source of the water, do so first. Avoid wet areas around electrical outlets, wiring, appliances, or fixtures, and contact a restoration company so the extent of the moisture can be evaluated and extraction can begin.

Yes. Removing standing water does not necessarily mean the structure is dry. Moisture can remain in drywall, subfloors, insulation, cabinets, wall cavities, and other materials after the surface water has been removed.

The setup depends on moisture readings, the materials affected, the layout of the property, and where the water traveled. Air movers and dehumidifiers are positioned to create drying conditions appropriate for the specific loss rather than using the same setup in every property.

Water from sewage or other contaminated sources requires additional precautions and cleaning procedures. Our sewage damage cleanup service can include extraction, removal of unsalvageable materials, cleaning, disinfection, drying, filtration, and odor treatment.

Persistent moisture can create conditions where mold may develop. If mold is visible or suspected, Phillips Restoration Services provides mold inspection, testing, removal, and remediation in addition to correcting the underlying moisture problem.

Yes. Phillips Restoration Services can provide photos, moisture readings, estimates, and records of the restoration work to document the loss. We work for the property owner, while the insurance carrier makes decisions about coverage under the policy.
