Our fridge water line started leaking and we didn’t know it was leaking until it went through the floor and water started pouring out of the garage ceiling. We called my daughter who then called Michael. He was at our house in less than an hour and walked us through everything and different options because It damaged our floor and cabinets. If we have any more problems he is who we will call again. Thank you for your help.

This was pretty much the best experience I ever had with anything related to construction. My tenants had a small leak on one of the pipes that was between four separate rooms of the house. I had a plumber along with water mitigation specialists who came by. Not a single person was able to detect the source of the leak. Not even the insurance adjuster. Michael Phillips was able to find it. Not only that, but he told me exactly what was happening and what I needed to do. He did a thorough and fantastic job. What could have been a major issue turned out to be one that was far more easy to handle. I can't thank Mr. Phillips enough for his help. If I could offer 6 stars for the work he did, I would.

Where Water Damage Can Affect a Property

The location of a water loss often determines how the restoration needs to be handled. A plumbing leak inside a wall presents different drying problems than a flooded utility room or an overflowing fixture on an upper floor. Areas we commonly evaluate include:

  • Kitchens – Dishwasher lines, refrigerators, sinks, and plumbing connections can send water beneath cabinets and finished flooring.
  • Bathrooms – Toilets, tubs, showers, sinks, and supply lines can affect floors, walls, cabinetry, and rooms below.
  • Laundry Areas – Washing machine hoses, drain problems, and supply connections can release a large amount of water in a short period.
  • Utility Rooms – Water heaters and mechanical equipment can leak into surrounding flooring, drywall, and adjoining rooms.
  • Upper Floors – Water from an upstairs plumbing problem can travel through floor assemblies and damage ceilings below.
  • Basements & Crawlspaces – Plumbing failures, groundwater, drainage issues, and sump pump problems can create difficult-to-reach moisture.
  • Attics & Ceilings – Roof leaks and water entering from above may affect insulation, drywall, framing, and ceiling finishes.
  • Wall Cavities – Hidden plumbing leaks can remain unnoticed while moisture spreads through drywall and insulation.
  • Commercial Interiors – Water can affect offices, retail areas, common spaces, storage areas, inventory, and occupied workspaces.
  • Contaminated Areas – Sewage backups require additional precautions because the water may contain harmful contaminants.

From Emergency Mitigation to Finished Repairs

1. Identify the Loss

We determine where the water came from, which areas were affected, and whether the source has been stopped.

2. Limit Continued Damage

Standing water is extracted and affected areas are evaluated so additional moisture does not continue soaking into surrounding materials.

3. Measure the Moisture

Moisture meters and infrared imaging help identify wet materials and areas where water may have traveled beyond the visible loss.

4. Dry the Affected Areas

Air movers, dehumidifiers, and specialty drying equipment are used according to the materials and conditions at the property.

5. Verify & Clean

Drying progress is checked with moisture readings, and affected areas are cleaned or treated as appropriate for the type of water involved.

6. Rebuild the Damaged Area

Materials that cannot be restored can be replaced after drying so the affected portion of the property can be put back together.

Restoring the Damage Without Overlooking the Surrounding Areas

A visible puddle may only represent part of the loss. Water from an upstairs bathroom can affect the ceiling below, an appliance leak can spread underneath cabinets, and a plumbing failure inside a wall may reach several materials before it is discovered. That is why the restoration scope should be based on moisture conditions rather than only what appears damaged from the surface.

Phillips Restoration Services works with homeowners, landlords, property managers, and business owners throughout Marietta. The goal is to identify the affected area, dry materials that can be restored, remove materials that cannot, and complete necessary repairs without making the project more complicated than it needs to be.

Frequently Asked Questions

Possibly. Repairing the pipe, appliance, roof, or other source stops additional water from entering, but it does not remove moisture already absorbed by drywall, flooring, insulation, cabinets, or structural materials. Those areas should still be evaluated and dried when necessary.

Water can move underneath finished flooring, behind baseboards, through wall cavities, and into materials below the original leak. The amount of visible water does not always show how far moisture has traveled.

No. Some materials may be dried in place depending on the water source, amount of moisture, length of exposure, construction, and condition of the material. Other materials may need to be removed when they cannot be properly dried, cleaned, or restored.

Household fans may move air, but they do not provide the same moisture control as a professional drying setup using air movement, dehumidification, and moisture monitoring. If the loss is more than a very small surface spill, the affected materials should be checked to determine whether moisture remains inside the structure.

The source of the water changes how the cleanup needs to be handled. Phillips Restoration Services provides sewage damage cleanup for contaminated losses that may require extraction, removal of affected porous materials, cleaning, disinfection, drying, filtration, and odor treatment.

Yes. Phillips Restoration Services can complete necessary water damage repairs after drying, including work involving damaged drywall, flooring, insulation, trim, and other affected materials. This allows the restoration to continue beyond extraction and drying with the same company.
